FAQS

Can I transfer my registration to another person?
No. Wearing someone else's race bib is cheating, and you will be disqualified from the race.

I can not make the race. Can I get a refund?
No. We do allow runners to transfer to another one of our races if they cannot make it. But we will issue a deferral code for the following year. Please contact us two weeks prior to the event. 

Can I walk the race?
Yes. Walkers are always welcome.

Do you have water, sports drinks, or snacks?
We have water at the finish line and on the race course we have water/sports drinks at miles 1, 2 and 3 (at the 10K split). We provide a limited number of snacks at the food tent for post race replenishments (for athletes ONLY). Runners and walkers are welcome to carry water or snacks during the race.

Is the race going to be canceled because of rain, snow, or other weather?
Our weather policy is not to cancel unless there is a shelter-in-place order or the organizing team cannot physically get to the starting line. It is a rain, snow, or shine event.

Do you send out pre-race and post-race emails?
Yes. If you aren't receiving communications from us, please check your spam folder. All participants receive a pre-race and post-race communication with important details related to the race, results, and awards.

Do you give out  race shirts?
Yes. If you registered prior to 02.01.2026, you will receive a complimentary tech shirt. You can purchase a shirt with your registration past the deadline until 03.31.2026.

Do you have an awards ceremony?
Yes. The award winner must be present to receive their award. 

Do you have age group awards?
Yes, also overall awards for each race. 

Do you chip time the race?
Yes, every racer bib contains a chip and mats will be at the finish line. We use a digital system to time the race and a manual system for backup.

Do you a medical tent or staff?
No. You must be in good health and in proper physical condition to participate in the Event. 

Do you have vendors at the race?
No. We do have some sponsorship options. For more information, email saltyracesinfo@gmail.com

Who benefits from the race?
York Education Foundation  (YEF) will receive the proceeds from the races in 2026. 

Is the course USATF certified?
No. The course is measured for accuracy, but we do not use USATF to certify the course.

Can you change the race start time?
No. The times are set based on the town. We have to have time to get into the ballpark and set up and also breakdown of the race must be done before other events take place. 

I was late, can you adjust my start time?
No. All times are based on the gun start.
