Description

This one is a true, multi day, backcountry adventure offering both Spinistry supported and self supported (bikepacking) options. Total attendance is limited to 12 people (6 Spinistry supported and 6 self supported). Slots will be made available first to Spinistry Golden Ticket holders (through 1/3/21), remaining slots will then be available to all Club Spinistry members (1/4/21-1/25/21) and any remaining slots will be available to the general public. Please note, all park access fees are the responsibility of the individual participants.

An overview video on supported adventures concept and how the Spinistry Golden Ticket works is available here: https://youtu.be/OLAEDdK9ODg

Please do not sign up unless you are committed to attending that weekend. Spots are NOT transferable. We will be putting together other trips to the area throughout 2021.

Suggested routes will be primarily on rough dirt roads and 4x4 trails throughout Big Bend National Park. We recommend that riders use mountain bikes for this adventure but they could be navigated on gravel bikes by riders with lots of technical riding experience and masochistic tendencies. Daily mileage will be roughly 35-40 hard miles. Self supported riders will need to carry all food needed for the entire trip. We will have water available for self supported riders at the overnight locations. There are no facilities or amenities along the route.

Spinistry Support option: We will shuttle food, water and camping gear from overnight spot to overnight spot for supported riders. Each day we will offer a mid point water stop. We will provide access to GPS navigation for riders who don't already have a dedicated navigation device. We will provide satellite trackers with SOS functionality via the Spot satellite tracking service. We do have limited camping setups available for supported riders who do not have adequate camping gear. Riders will need to provide their own sleeping bags at the very least. Camping setups are limited and first come/first served. Please message us ahead of time to verify availability if you plan to utilize this option.

Safety: Please note that the Big Bend National Park is a true wilderness and desert area. Temperatures can fluctuate tremendously (even in the same 24 hour period). There is no cell coverage along the routes nor any water or electricity at the campsites. There are no toilets at the campsites either. Wildlife does include predators such as mountain lions and black bears. Please do not attempt this adventure if you uncomfortable spending multiple days in a true back country environment. We will NOT be available for SAG support/rider retrieval in case of mechanical or medical issues since there will not be a way to communicate those issues. True emergencies should utilize the SOS functionality of the Spot Trackers for those who have them. Please note that you will be responsible for any emergency service charges incurred.

Details and specifics will be sent to registered riders in the days and weeks leading up to start. Here is a general itinerary for reference"
