Since this event supports two nonprofits (Dubuque Food Pantry and The Red Basket Project), each team of 4 will be asked to gather essential items from the supply lists provided. On average, teams can expect to spend $50–$80 total on donated goods. That breaks down to about $10–$20 per person.
You’ll receive the supply list and store locations at 10:15AM following the opening ceremony, providing 15 minutes to plan your team’s route. Lists will vary for bikers, runners, and drivers.
When it comes to carrying goods for Tour de Give, think of yourself as a delivery hero on a mission. If you’re biking, you’ve got options galore. Some riders sling on a trusty backpack, while others roll up looking pro with saddle bags. The true beasts hook up a bike trailer and roll out with half a grocery store in tow, and then there’s the creative crew strapping milk crates onto their racks with bungees, instantly earning bike-packing street cred.
Walkers and runners become the ultimate human delivery service. A light backpack works perfectly for smaller items, but if you really want to make an entrance, a fold-up wagon or rolling cart turns you into the neighborhood snack dealer, rolling through town with supplies in style. And of course, the carpool squad plays the role of heavy lifters, trunks become treasure chests, and drivers double as the rescue squad when bikers and runners collect more loot than they can carry.
The secret to it all? Keep the load balanced, toss donations into reusable bags or crates for quick hauling, and have fun with it. Whether you’re pedaling, running, or driving, every mile means more supplies delivered and that’s what makes you the real MVP of the ride.
