Race Details
Join us for an exciting evening mile race for all ages — youth and adult! This fast, out-and-back course kicks off the East Coast Triathlon Festival, a national event that celebrates fitness, community, and fun (learn more here).
Whether you’re chasing a personal best, cheering on your child, or running alongside friends, this race offers something for everyone. It’s a perfect way to enjoy a family night out while supporting a meaningful cause — all proceeds go directly toward providing free fitness programs for children in Richmond’s lowest-opportunity neighborhoods.
In addition, over $1,000 in cash awards will be donated back to local schools’ physical education programs through the School Participation Competition (details below). Schools with the most participants win big — so encourage your classmates, teachers, and families to get involved!
Come for the race. Stay for the celebration. Be part of something that moves our community forward!
School Competition
Get ready to run, cheer, and win for your school! The Innsbrook Mile isn’t just about speed — it’s about school spirit and community pride. Each year, local schools compete for cash prizes to help support their Physical Education programs!
Whether your school is large or small, every runner counts toward your total. Gather your classmates, teachers, parents, and friends — the more people who register under your school’s name, the better your chance to win!
Awards
The top 5 schools with the largest number of participants (minimum of 10) will receive:
1st Place – $300
2nd Place – $250
3rd Place – $200
4th Place – $150
5th Place – $100
And that’s not all — any school with 25 or more participants that doesn’t place in the top 5 will still receive $50 to invest back into their PE program.
How to Participate
-
When registering, list your runner’s school name so their participation counts toward your school’s total.
-
Encourage your classmates, teachers, and families to sign up and represent your school together!
-
Show up on race day in your school colors to show your pride and cheer on your teammates.
Why It Matters
This friendly competition not only encourages students and families to stay active, but also helps schools enhance their PE programs with new equipment, activities, and fitness opportunities. It’s a win for everyone — fitness, fun, and community all in one event!

Race & Serve with Purpose
At Live Red Foundation (LRF), we believe in living with purpose—whether through racing or serving. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, every event we host funds the important work we are doing in Richmond’s lowest-opportunity neighborhoods, providing free fitness programs that teach 8 core life skills to youth who need them most.
When you race with purpose, your miles fuel programs that bring fitness, mentorship, and hope to every child. When you serve with purpose, your time and talents directly impact lives, helping us reach more youth with encouragement and opportunity.
Do you believe in the power of fitness and community to transform lives? Whether you lace up to race or roll up your sleeves to serve, you join us on our mission to make this transformation possible for every child.
