CM6 - Limekiln and Coral High Priority

If cars come in prior to 7:30 am, direct them toward Costco; no cars should come in after 7:30 am; the intersection of Hwy 9 and Coral may open around 9:30 to allow people to go down Coral for one block - but not through your intersection - tell them you can't let them through till around 10:30; EXCEPTION: if it is a City vehicle (from Parks and Rec) or someone from Portuguese Hall, we have to let them through, so look for a safe gap between the runners and let them through your intersection; the 5K runners will do one lap in front of you down Limekiln and this could happen as early as 9 am for the fast runners; the majority will pass by after that. Our route bicyclist will swing by and let you know when your shift is done. Join us for burritos and Italian ices!

Details

Cars will come in from Hwy 9 until 7:45 am - direct them down Encinal toward Costco; the intersection at Hwy 9 and Encinal will close at 7:45 am and no cars should come in after that; the 10K runners will come down Encinal from Harvey West at 8:30 and head out to Hwy 9; the 5K runners will start at 8:40 but only pass you on their third and final lap which could be as early as 9-9:15 am; the intersection of Hwy 9 and Encinal will open after the last 5K runner passes by you and goes on to finish the route which could be as late as 9:40; if the policeman at Hwy 9 lets in a Parks and Rec truck, we have to let it pass through - send it down Limekiln during a safe gap between runners;

Details

Meet with all 10 CM's for that area, on the corner of Spring and Highland at 8:15 am. Distribute orange vests. Review assignments with volunteers and choose two stronger volunteers for CM 19 and CM 21. CM 19 (Roger and Highland) will have to tell cars that they cannot proceed down Highland once the runners start arriving. CM 21 (Highland and High) will have to negotiate runners coming down the hill and bicyclists crossing by; they need to tell the cyclists to wait tilll there is a break in the group of cyclists. All of the CM's will have been given instructions for their positions already but review anyway.
