Potential pictures include but are not limited to capturing individual racers during the paddle and run/walk, any group photos we ask for and any team photos that are requested. Action photos, scenic photos, etc.

INFO TABLE/BAG CHECK

You will help check bags for racers/volunteers and hand out any informational material we may have

VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN

In this position, you will check volunteers in for their job(s) and make sure they have their volunteer t-shirt.

RACER CHECK-IN

In this position, you will check racers in for their heat and make sure they have their racer bib and t-shirt.

SAFETY/FIRST AID

Previous military medics/corpsman, EMT, nurse, doctors are encouraged to volunteer.

DOCK ATTENDANTS

Details

You will help get racers into their boats and help push them into the water, if necessary. You may also be asked to help pull kayaks onto the dock (with racer inside) after the paddle portion is complete. Please note, your feet may get wet so please plan to wear shoes you do not mind getting wet.

EQUIPMENT WRANGLER

Details

You will help pay out the life vests and distribute them to racers when their heat is called. You will then help collect the life vests when the paddle portion is complete and get it ready for the next set of racers.

SAFETY BOATERS/IN-WATER SUPPORT

Details

Please only sign up for this volunteer task if you have experience with kayaking. You MUST be able to swim, paddle and possibly tow a paddler in the unlikely event we have a racer swimmer.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED GUIDE (PADDLING)

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

You MUST be able and willing to guide a VI paddler from a separate kayak. Experience preferred.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED GUIDE (RUN)

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

You MUST be able and willing to guide a VI racer approximately 3 miles down the Capital Crescent Trail. Experience preferred.

TRANSITION/ HAND CYCLE STATION

WATER STATION 1 DOCK AREA

WATER STATION 2 TRAIL AREA

Water Station 2 - turn around point on the bike path. If you click on this volunteer position PLEASE BE AWARE that you will need to walk, bike, hike, to get to the water station prior to the volunteer time slot. This is 1.5miles from the volunteer check-in table.

This position will assist with timing the racers who are running/walking/ or handcycling on the Capital Crescent Trail. No experience necessary! Having knowledge of using an ipad or table is a plus, but not necessary!

POST RACE CLEAN UP CREW

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

You will help with cleaning up the race which may include but is not limited to lifting kayaks, picking up trash, gathering paddles and life vests, breaking down tables and tents, etc.
