Course Marshall

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

A Course Marshall is responsible for guiding and encouraging the participants around the course, warning them of any obstacles or hazards, and ensuring that other park users are aware of the event. They are also responsible for ensuring that the runners have a safe run and that no vehicular traffic (other than official vehicles) enters the course. Course marshals are placed at specific locations on the course that are key for the race.

Packet Prep

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Details

You will assemble all race day packets prior to packet pick-up. This will either be Wednesday or Thursday before the race (April 24 or 25). Location is TBD.

Water Station Attendant

At least 5 more volunteers needed.

Details

Race volunteers will pass out water and/or other fluids to make sure the runners stay hydrated.

Finish Line Volunteers

At least 5 more volunteers needed.

Details

Race Volunteers will be responsible for keeping runners moving efficiently through the finish line, directing runners to the post-race area where they can wait for friends and family members, get their Finisher's picture taken, and retrieve their Medals. Duties also may include passing out bottled water and setting up refreshments at finish line.

Race Day Registration Table

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers will be responsible for pre-registration and race day registration tables. Pre-registration table- Individuals that did not pickup their packets prior to race day but are registered in RunSignup for race. Race-day registration table will be individuals that did not register yet.

Packet Pick-up

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers will distribute race packets to participants prior to race day. Location is: Big Peach Decatur arrive by 10:00AM

Race Day Set-up

At least 14 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers will be responsible to work to help set up cones, signs and water stations for the course. Will be required to arrive early.

Race Day Tear Down

At least 14 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers will be required to assist with removing signs, tearing down tables and water stations.

First Aid Station

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteer will assist a medical professional with first aid as needed. (i.e gauze, bandages, water etc)

Lead and Sweep Bike

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Volunteer will accompany first runner down the course. Once the first runner has completed the 5K, that same biker will sweep the course to make sure the last
runner will complete the 5K.

General Race Day Volunteer

At least 10 more volunteers needed.

Details

These will be general volunteers that will be assigned tasks on Race day as needed. (snack distribution and signage.

Merchandise Sales Table

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteer will be responsible for the sales table. This will include selling merchandise, documenting sales, collecting funds and ensuring funds are provided to race director.

Youth Activities Assistant

At least 5 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers will assist the Youth Activities Director with monitoring youth and race day activities with the children.

Virtual Packet Prep

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Volunteers will prep the virtual packages the week before the race to ensure that participants receive their packages on time. Specific day is TBD.
