You are the trail’s pit crew, snack bar, water department, and occasional therapist.
Aid station workers keep runners moving when the miles start getting long. You’ll greet participants, refill bottles, hand out food and drinks, keep the station stocked and organized, and help participants figure out what they need next.
Your job is to:
* Keep food, water, and electrolytes flowing.
* Ask participants what they need and help them get it quickly.
* Keep the aid station clean, stocked, and ready for the next wave.
* Encourage participants when they need a little extra push.
* Watch for who may be struggling or need additional assistance.
* Communicate with the race director about any concerns.
* Most importantly, bring some energy. A friendly face at an aid station can make a surprisingly big difference.
No previous trail-race experience required. If you can fill a cup, yell encouragement, and stay reasonably calm around a participant who has forgotten how to make decisions, you’re qualified.
