Course marking is a critical task that ensures a safe and enjoyable race experience for all participants. This process begins one week before the race and involves placing clear, visible flags and signs along the trail to guide runners, highlight turns, and prevent course deviations.

What you earn:

This year anyone who helps out for a day or multiple days will receive a full race credit good for up to two calendar years and guaranteed early registration.

What to Expect:

Duration: Plan for a full day in the outdoors, typically 6–8 hours, depending on the section being marked.

Tasks: You’ll install markers along the course approximately every .2 miles to clearly delineate the course, ensuring runners stay on the correct path. Familiarity with the trails or prior race experience is highly valuable but not required. We will also help instruct you on how to mark if you've never done it before.

Preparation: Bring adequate food, water, and appropriate clothing for a day in the woods. Be ready for variable weather and terrain. If you have a GPS watch it can be usefully for measuring when to place markers.

Logistics: Course marking often involves shuttling to and from trail sections. If you’re unable to mark but can assist with driving or shuttle coordination, your help is greatly appreciated!
