Details

Ensure that riders' bags are safely stored and appropriately tagged; riders may not leave bags in the bag-check area without the correct bag-check tag attached. Check bib numbers against tagged bags during retrieval process; riders may not take bags unless the bag-check tag and bib number match. Direct riders to dispose of chip instructions and other trash in the garbage bins to maintain a clean area. Assist in clean-up and breakdown as needed.

Volunteer Concierge

Details

This role involves being in the volunteer booth before and/or during the event and involves taking care of other volunteers, providing instructions or directions, and issuing their necessary tools and volunteer packs. We value all of our volunteers and need you to ensure that message. There are a variety of tasks, and although little lifting is involved, it can be a pretty active place requiring you to move around the booth attending to volunteer needs.
Volunteer check in:  Confirmed signed waivers, log check-in sheet, provide volunteer pack and any necessary tools for each role (e.g. safety vests, cutters, ear plugs, etc.), direct volunteers to their positions.   
Provide information to anyone looking for assistance.
Assist with meal distribution to “on-course” volunteers (many cannot leave their posts).
Provide volunteers with food/water and keep water coolers stocked.
Log check-in sheet upon return of volunteers.
Hand out thank you gifts and collect volunteer equipment at the end of the shifts.

Details

Serve as the eyes and ears of the ride. Course marshals are given an orange vest and an emergency number card and placed in a specific area of the event route. We encourage you to cheer on cyclists as they pass, but try not to get too caught up in simply watching the riders. Make sure all riders stay on the correct side of the road and follow traffic laws. Throughout the event your primary event responsibility is for rider safety and direction. This role requires you to stand for an extended amount of time but requires very little lifting.

Details

This role includes a variety of set up tasks. Some heavy lifting is involved (up to 50 lbs). Responsibilities might include set up of the bike corral by positioning pedestrian barricades (heavy metal fences) and covering them in soft fencing, hanging event and sponsor signage, positioning equipment for each vendor according to their needs; including: tents, tables, chairs, tent weights, or sample/marketing materials, and placement of trash or recycling containers according to the site plan.

Work gloves are advised.

Event Clean-Up

Details

This role includes a variety of tasks for dismantling the event site, the vendor expo area, and the bike corral.  Some heavy lifting may be involved (up to 50 lbs). Remove, roll, and pack soft fencing. Remove and pack sponsor banners and other signage. Collect and dump garbage cans and clean up any remaining debris. Deconstruct specified site tents organize any chairs and tables for pick-up. Assist with miscellaneous tasks to conclude clean-up.
Bring a pair of work gloves.
Any necessary tools will be provided.

Bike Corral Attendant

Details

Keep a watchful eye over the enclosed corral to be sure bikes are kept safe. This role may require you to stand and process checking bikes in or out, but does not require you to handle their bike or lift anything. Follow check-in/check-out protocol as bikes and people come and go. Manage a single entrance/exit and patrol the perimeter of the corral to make sure security is maintained. No handling of cash required.

Details

Assist with the smooth and successful launch of rider starts. Manage corral entrances (when necessary) and check riders' bibs, ensuring that they enter the corral corresponding to their bib number/color and that they enter the corrals at least 10 minutes before the start of their respective wave; riders who arrive after this point must go to the last corral, regardless of bib number/color. Keep the emergency lane clear for emergency vehicles and other patrons; alert pedestrians and riders entering the event site to approaching bicycles and vehicles. Be vocal and upbeat in directing riders to the start area. Assist in clean-up and breakdown as needed.

Finish Marshal

Details

Keep spectators off the event course and out of the emergency lane in the pre-finish area. Move riders smoothly through the the post-finish area once they cross the finish line. Direct riders to medical, food, fluid, and bag check areas as necessary. Cheer for riders as they finish! Alert pedestrians and riders exiting the event site to approaching bicycles and vehicles. Assist in clean-up and breakdown as needed.
