Riding to End Polio with Hercor – Help Me Make Every Mile Count
In August 2023, I was a complete novice when I first discovered my passion for cycling. That year, I rode my very first Tour de Tucson, completing the 62-mile Half Metric Century ride. I was hooked. Fast forward to 2024, I took on the full 102-mile Century Ride, and thanks to months of disciplined training, guidance from my coach Mr. Adam Snoke, and the unwavering support of my amazing wife Fernanda, along with encouragement from close friends and family, I proudly crossed the finish line in 4 hours and 52 minutes—achieving Platinum status for the first time.
This year, I’m returning with even more determination—and a bigger mission. I’m riding in the 2025 Ride to End Polio, a powerful global campaign led by Rotary International to eradicate polio from our planet.
I’ve set a bold personal goal:
💥 To raise $1.2 million dollars—just $1 from every Rotarian in the world.
With over 1.2 million Rotarians globally, we can prove that unity truly moves mountains.
The Ride to End Polio has raised over $56 million through El Tour de Tucson over the past decade, including nearly $3 million in 2021 alone, when the ride was held in honor of Michael J. Harris, a visionary Rotarian who helped launch this initiative. As a graduate of Rotary’s STARS Training, I’m deeply honored to ride in continuation of his legacy.
This year, I’m also pushing myself physically to break my previous record. I’ve set my sights on finishing under 4 hours and 30 minutes—earning Platinum once again, but with deeper purpose. And I’d love your support:
🚴♂️ Sponsor my ride by donating to Rotary International’s fight against polio.
🎯 Make an additional contribution if I hit my 4:30 Platinum goal—at any target amount you choose.
🌍 Help us eradicate polio from the last two endemic countries: Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Together—with the heart of Rotary, the strength of Hercor, and the power of a global community—we can ride stronger and make every mile truly count.
Thank you for standing with me on this mission.
With passion and purpose to make an Impact,
Luis Hernandez
