Why I Support the American Cancer Society

As a caretaker for my mom, whom I lost to cancer in 2023, and with so many family members and friends currently battling or lost to this disease, I have a fierce, deeply personal urge to support this cause. Participating in the annual ACS Walk and Roll allows me to honor their memory, share my story, and give others a meaningful reason to give. Over the past two years, I am incredibly proud to have raised over $5,000 each year by focusing on a few impactful strategies: maintaining consistent messaging, engaging with my coworkers to encourage submission of matching funds, and utilizing my own organization as a platform for giving via United Way. I also expanded my outreach by hosting a Double Good popcorn fundraiser. Combining these diverse efforts created additional opportunities for people to contribute to this significant cause. Ultimately, the heart of fundraising is connection.  I make it a priority to deeply thank everyone who supports this journey and always provide extra personalization for those who stand by this cause year after year.

Cancer has touched too many people I know and love, which is why I’ve joined the American Cancer Society Walk & Roll Chicago to make a difference. By supporting this important work, I’m celebrating cancer survivors, honoring those we've lost, and raising critical funds to help end cancer as we know it, for everyone. The money I raise helps fund groundbreaking research, provides vital information for those facing cancer, and supports free rides to treatment and free lodging when care is far from home. Most of all, I know the funds raised brings hope to the people who need it most.
