Hello Friends and Family,
On July 12, 2025 Dave and I are again taking on the challenge of biking the 4-day, 184.5-mile Great Bicycle Tour of the C&O Canal (TGBT XXXVIII) ride in support of the San Mar Family and Community Services. We are incredibly excited to fundraise for this worthy organization.
San Mar is a remarkable nonprofit dedicated to serving children and families facing tough circumstances. This ride is their major annual fundraiser, and we are proud to support their mission. But for us, this journey is about more than miles—it’s about continuing a legacy.
For years, our father, Harold Showalter, rode this trail and inspired his grandkids to take on the challenge with him. It became a cherished tradition, a bonding experience, and a way to raise funds for an organization he believed in. His last ride was in 2018, the year before we lost him to an aggressive brain tumor in April 2019. In his memory, we have continued to ride, fundraise, and honor his commitment to San Mar.
