Why I support the American Cancer Society:

In January 2026 my father died from Cancer at age 76. His funeral service was scheduled for later that year in June and my family had decided to spend the following week together down the shore. Sometimes things just seem to work out -- and the ACS Bike-a-Thon was scheduled for the day after the service when my family was planning to head to the shore. 

It seemed too perfect to honor him by doing the ACS Bike-a-Thon and making part of his legacy doing what we can to support other people who have been impacted by Cancer. In 2027 I am riding again and my family will spend the week together at the shore again. 

My dad spent his life in the service of others in his profession, his volunteering, and the way he showed up for friends and family. In some small way, riding the ACS Bike-a-Thon the weekend of his service each year is a way to honor his life and remind myself of the example he set.
