CAP2CAP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE CAP2CAP BIKE RIDE?
The Cap2Cap Bike Ride is an annual event hosted by the Capital Trail Foundation to showcase the Capital Trail that brings the whole community together! This year there will be TWO start/finish locations. Wherever you start, is where you finish. THERE WILL NOT BE A SHUTTLE SERVICE TO BRING YOU BACK. The post-ride party will include lunch, beer, entertainment, and a vendor expo. Join us for this fun, family-friendly event and help support the Cap Trail at the same time!

WHAT IS THE CAPITAL TRAIL?
The Capital Trail is a 52-mile multiuse, paved Trail that runs from Williamsburg to Richmond, VA. 

WHERE ARE THE ROUTES?
The routes follow Route 5, The Virginia Capital Trail and surrounding local roads. The Fun Ride is entirely on the Virginia Capital Trail. All other routes use local roads and the Capital Trail.  The routes are fully marked with a police presence at major intersections. Riders will be provided with route maps and cue sheets before the ride. Finalized route maps with updated rest stop information will be published soon. For DRAFTED routes please go HERE

WHERE IS CAP2CAP?
This year you have TWO options: Dorey Park in Henrico or Chickahominy Riverfront Park in Williamsburg.

Dorey Park: 7200 Dorey Park Drive, Henrico, VA 23231

Chickahominy Riverfront Park: 1350 John Tyler Hwy, Williamsburg, VA 23185

YOU WILL START AND FINISH IN THE SAME LOCATION. There is NOT a shuttle to take you back to your start location. Lunches are limited to where you registered.

IS THERE FREE PARKING AT THE VENUE?
Yes, there will be free parking on site a short walk from the starting line and post-ride party. If you have questions regarding accessibility please e-mail us at info@virginiacapitaltrail.org.

WHAT IS A REST STOP?
Rest stops provide snacks, water, sports drinks, basic first aid supplies, portable toilets, and basic bike technician support. The location of rest stops along each route will be on the maps provided as well as indicated on the cue sheets. Rest stops will be evenly spaced along every route. Exact rest stop locations will be released closer to the bike ride.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN TERMS OF SAFETY?
There will be police and EMS support along the route as well as SAG vehicles available via cell phone to assist riders along the routes. SAG numbers will be printed on every rider's bib number. You are responsible for your own safety. 

IS LUNCH PROVIDED & WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE POST RIDE PARTY?
Lunch is included in the price of registration. The ride venue will also host a vendor expo, a VCT merchandise table, and live bands for entertainment. One drink ticket will be included in the price of registration so grab yourself a beer or soda!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
All of our riders have different needs and we do our best to meet all of them. Just bring your bike, helmet, and any riding gear you may need and you're all set. Some other items brought by riders include: sunglasses, sunscreen, additional snacks, extra clothes/gear, and portable phone chargers.

WHAT DISTANCE SHOULD I RIDE? CAN I TRANSFER RIDES?
We encourage everyone of all skill levels to participate in our ride which is why we offer four different distances. If you should decide while riding that you are unable to finish, SAG vehicles will be available to assist you. You can transfer on your Bike Signup account before May 5th at midnight. After, that you will be charged a $5 fee. Should you choose to Transfer, please log into your Bike Signup account and follow the instructions under the Edit Registration Tab.

CAN I GET A REFUND FOR THE RIDE?
No, it is stated in our registration waiver that “registrations are non-refundable, non-transferable, and may not be deferred to another year. The Cap2Cap takes place rain or shine. In case of severe weather, VCTF reserves the right to cancel/alter/modify the ride for safety concerns. In any case, we do not refund ride fees, transfer registration to another year, or transfer registration to other riders. In the unlikely case, a ride is canceled, you may claim your registration fee as a tax-deductible donation.
