Mother's Day Inclusion Revolution 5K

Sun May 10, 2020 Grove City, OH 43123 US Directions

Event: Mother's Day 5K Run/Walk

From the Race Director:

Thank you for taking an interest in our 8th Annual Columbus Mother's Day 5K Run/Walk in Grove City. We would like to think that we have a something for everyone viewpoint as we host this annual event. For 2020, we have three events in addition to our 5K Run/Walk. 1> A Primrose Children's Run at 7:30am, 2> A Mother's Day 100, at 7:40am, for those athletes with a disability preventing them from safely participating or finishing a 5K, and 3> a Champions 5K, which will be specifically for those athletes who cannot finish a 5K without human or adaptive equipment support and desire to be pushed or guided by a supportive team. Hence, our event name, The Mother's Day Inclusion Revolution. Our event will be inclusive of all who wish to do this 5k as a run or a walk. (If you know of someone who has a disability, but would appreciate the thrill of being pushed in an adult jogging chair for the 5K (weight capacity 200lbs), please have them sign up for the Champions 5K.) Our Mother's Day 5K is held in Grove City, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. We feature easy/on off freeway access, ample convenient parking, heated rest rooms, a scenic course, live music on course, medallions for all finishers, quality t-shirts, a refreshment area sponsored by Wal-Mart for finishers:)

Our Event also raises funds and awareness for Grove City Buddy Ball. This is a 501c3 charitable organization which provides opportunities for all persons to play baseball regardless of ability, and promote community support through volunteerism and sponsorship of these activities.

Please mark your calendar for May 10, 2020 and set aside the time to jump start Mother's Day with us. When 4 or more sign up at the same time on-line, we have a Multi-Person Discount of $5 off each entrant. The following age discounts also take affect above and beyond the Multi Person Discount: 13 years and under and 60 -69 years receive $5 off discounts. 70 yrs and older receive a $10 off discount.

Event: Primrose Children's Run

We are pleased to offer the 2020 Primrose Children's Run. This is a race designed for children between the ages of 2-8. We will have one heat only for the Run. We are working on finalizing the course details to be held on Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital premises. We are trying to line up some familiar mascots for our event for the children to chase. Entrants will receive a short sleeve race t-shirt, a (non-chipped) bib. They will also receive a medal and refreshments at the Finish Line.
Start Time: 7:30am EDT
End Time: 7:40am EDT

Event: Champions 5K (This is for Athletes with Disabilities preventing them from doing 5K unassisted)

This Event is for "Champions". Champions are athletes who have a disability which prevents them from safely participating in a 5K without guided assistance over the entire course. This event is all about helping courageous athletes with disabilities experience the joy and triumph of a competitive running event. We are working with Team Heart and Sole to provide Teammates who will team up to push these athletes the entire course at a desired pace by the Champion. We can run, or we can walk, or we can do a bit of both.

We have a limited number of jogging chairs (chair maximum rider weight limit is 200lbs) that we will make available for those athletes needing to be pushed through this event. We will ask a series of questions for each registrant signing up to determine if a chair is needed. If a chair is not needed, but physical guidance or support is still needed, we will work to understand what that need is and also secure appropriate volunteers to support.

In addition to signing up on-line through our event, there is a dual need to also sign up and register as a member with Team Heart And Sole. There is a Champion Application below which needs filled out. (SEE: PAPER REGISTRATION FORM) just below the box here to the left after clicking "+ SHOW REGISTRATION DETAILS". It has both a Physician area for a family physician to give medical clearance, and it also has the basics of a normal participant registration and event release form. In addition to signing up on-line, this form must be emailed to haviland.teamheartandsole@gmail.com by Friday, April 26, 2019 to secure a spot and allow us time to coordinate team members and equipment for each participant. (If you struggle with finding this form below or downloading it below, please email haviland.teamheartandsole@gmail.com and we will email one to you.)
Start Time: 8:00am EDT
End Time: 9:30am EDT

Event: Mother's Day 100 Yard Run/Walk (Event for athletes with disabilities and their support members) prior to 5K Event Start

We wanted to have something to offer for everyone in a family. Hence, we came up with the idea of the Mother's Day 100 Yard Event. This is for a family member who has a disability preventing them from walking, running or participating in a 5K. This will be held before the 5K, so that all those participating on Mother's Day can come early and cheer on these courageous athletes and their remarkable supporting family members. This event will start at approximately 07:40am, 100 yards West of the Finish LIne, running toward and finishing under the Finish Line Arch.

Those registering for the Mother's Day 100 should pick up their goodie bag package, Race Bib and T-shirt at Event Week Packet Pick Up

All finishers of the Mother's Day 100 will be treated just as if they ran the 5K. They will receive a Goodie Bag, T-Shirt, Bib during packet pick up. They will receive a Medal and Finish Line refreshments in the Finish Line Area. If you plan to register a loved one for this event, we ask that you provide or have assistance arranged to support them in completing the 100 yards. If you feel you cannot provide or arrange assistance, please reach out to me and we will find a volunteer for your registrant to assist them. If you have any questions, please email Mark Sigrist, Event Director at marksigrist1@gmail.com. Finally, if the person assisting the Mother's Day 100 Entrant, also wants to be involved in the same decor as the registrant, e.g. receive an Event T-Shirt, Shirt Bib at Registration Week, and a Medal and Refreshments upon finishing the race, they should sign up for the Mother's Day 100 event also. It will be the same $15 price. If they wish to assist, but not receive the Shirt, or Medal, they needn't sign up and just come out and assist in normal street clothing suitable for that day. There will be no cost for them if they want to support their loved one and choose not to receive the Shirt, Medal, and refreshments.
Start Time: 7:40am EDT
End Time: 7:50am EDT
