Chasing The Mermaid Race

3.1ish Miles of Treasure Hunting Fun on LBI! 

Chasing the Mermaid is a 5K plus running race or bike "tour" sponsored by Trinchero.  All participants must be 21 years of age or older.  Top 3 Males & Females Runners Overall will receive awards. Prizes for best decorated bike and best Mermaid / Merman costume. The running race will start at 6:15pm with the bike "tour" starting at 6:20pm.  Registration / Packet pick-up opening at 5pm. Included in registration Fish Tasting Contest, a chance to win a prize from the Treasurer Chest and a Jetty t-shirt! Plus a few other suprises. *Must be registered by 9/1 to be guaranteed a shirt.

Both runners and bikers must observe rules of the road.  Here's the catch: runners must keep moving at all times.  If you hit a traffic light that is green you must go straight, if you hit a red light you must run either left or right.  The route will not be marked You are responsible for Navigating your way to each check-in bar where you will receive a sticker to be placed on your bib to prove you were there.  At each check-in  runners either have to do 3 push ups or sample a fish taco to receive a "Token" to be eligible to win a prize from the treasure chest at the finish line. If not interested in winning just check-in. Up to 3 people can win!  At the finish you will also be asked to vote for your favorite fish taco.  The winning restaurant will win the coveted Best Fish Taco Mermaid trophy.  A map will be posted at the start to mark the location of each check in.

Important Info! This year's event will start at the Engleside Inn and finish at Bird & Betty's.  Engleside Inn is offering a special $119 room rate for Thursday night only. However you might want to stay for Chowder Fest weekend.  Just mention Chasing the Mermaid when you call direct to book (609) 492-1251.  Transportation back to Engleside in will not be provided. 

Participants bikers are responsible for renting or bringing their own bike, as well as, returning their bike to the rental facility. We recommend you reserve your bike prior to the event. LBI rentals Acme Beach & Bike and Surf Buggy.  Bikes lights and helmets required. We recommend wheels lights https://www.amazon.com/s?k=bike+wheel+lights&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 and bike lights will earn points in the bike decorating. 

This event is rain or shine! We do not mail out shirts to those who cannot attend. They need to be picked up at the event.
