Friday Setup at Nichols Hills Plaza

Details

Friday volunteers will primarily help load the truck(s) will all needed supplies for Saturday and Sunday events. This will be a labor intensive position that will require the volunteers to be able to lift and maneuver.

Details

Waterford parking attendants will help direct cycling participants to the correct parking area.

Please check in to the Redbud Volunteer Tent first. Volunteers will receive vests and work with Sam Roop to direct cyclists to parking and block off event area. Sam will make position assignments.

Waterford Complex at 6307 Waterford Blvd. You will receive volunteer parking details and map prior to the event.

Sunday Run Event

Sunday Run Course Marshal

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Course Marshal volunteers will help runners stay on course. Cheering is encouraged! Course marshal volunteers are positioned at various locations along the route to point participants in the correct direction of the course. It is very important that all course marshals stay in position until the last runner (who will be followed by a police car) passes. Please give encouragement and congratulations to each runner as you direct them along the course. The streets close at 1:00PM so there is no driving on the course until the end of the race. A Redbud board member will be in contact with you to provide more details. There will also be a Run Course Marshal meeting before the day of the event.

If you like to sign up to volunteer with someone else that is signing up, please add their name to the "Note to Race" space as your are registering and we will do our best to have you together..

We are excited to offer 75% off registration for one of the ride events on Saturday (10 mile, 30 mile, or 50 mile ride) to those that volunteer as a Ride Course Marshal on Sunday. Please email holly@redbud.org to receive your discount code once you have signed up to volunteer as a Course Marshal!

Location

Nichols Hills Plaza. Please check-in at the volunteer area the day of the event. You will be assigned a location prior to the race and head to your spot after meeting.

Parking/Traffic attendants will help place parking barricades and direct participants to the correct parking area. You will be assigned a specific spot (Nichols Hills Plaza and/or Chesapeake Energy parking lot) by the Parking/Traffic Coordinator.

Sunday Run Start Line

Details

The start line volunteers will help set-up the start line for the 5k, 10k, and 2 mile / stroller run. They will then help direct people to their correct starting point. Two people will be assigned to the stroller derby decorating competition and pick a winner to announce at the start of the 2 mile walk. Cheering is encouraged!

Water stop volunteers pass out water, Powerade and fruit to our cyclists. Volunteers are asked to give encouragement/congratulations to the cyclists. Volunteers may wear company logos, t-shirts etc. and are allowed to affix up to 2 (3x8) banners to the water stop tables. Volunteers may decorate in any way that does not interfere with the cyclists. Volunteers should go directly to the assigned water stop on the morning of the event.
We encourage volunteers to bring the following: Personal Water Bottle, Chair, Sunscreen, Raincoat (weather depending).

Saturday SAG Drivers

Details

Join us as a SAG (Support and Gear) driver volunteer for our upcoming Redbud cycling event! As a SAG driver, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and support of participants.

• You will meet at an assigned rest area (you will receive more details on your assigned area closer to the event) to begin driving the course during the event.
• You will drive your personal vehicle to cover your assigned area of the course (approximately a 10-to-15-mile segment) until the last rider has passed your area.
• You will provide on-the-spot assistance for mechanical bike problems, including flat tire repairs.
• You will offer bike transportation for those in need, and need to be able to pick up bikes that need a lift.
