Hi! As we head into summer I am feeling like the world is "righting" itself and with that comes the opportunity to move outside my little bubble of covid-safety and contribute to something that can make a difference in our community. And in doing so I get to do something I love - which is ride my bike! It has been a long time since I have done an endurance fund raising event and when I received an email from a friend to donate for this same cause I realized how much I had missed it. So here I am....I'm going to ride 200 miles on my bike with the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Charity Bike Ride to make a difference for the youth in our community! Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary has a long history of supporting youth organizations with this ride, and I’m joining in to do my part.
This year the primary ride recipients, receiving 75% of all funds raised, is Teen Kitchen Project. Secondary recipients are the Santa Cruz Children's Museum of Discovery, Second Harvest Food Bank, the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary High School Scholarship program (providing 2 and 4-year college scholarship) and the Charities and Grants program (providing grants to local youth athletic and arts organizations).
For those of you who don’t know about Teen Kitchen Project – I urge you to visit their website http://www.TeenKitchenProject.org. But the summary is Teen Kitchen Project engages youth in the preparation of healthy meals that are delivered to people living with critical and chronic illnesses who, because of their illness or condition, have difficulty shopping and cooking for themselves. Each week Teen Kitchen Project volunteer drivers deliver over 1,600 meals across Santa Cruz County.
I've committed to fundraise a minimum of $650 with a personal goal of $1000! So please consider sponsoring me for this ride. With an all-volunteer crew 100% of the proceeds go to the charities, and it’s all tax deductible as the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit.
Donations by cash or check can be mailed as follows:
Checks should be made out to "Sunrise Rotary Foundation" and mailed to the following address:
