As some of you know, I have been part of the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Club for a couple of years. Our biggest fundraiser was the 3 day 200 mile ride but because of COVID-19, the 200 mile, 3-day ride had to be cancelled. We will not be deterred and the organization came up with an alternate "One Day Wonder" in the county to keep this fundraiser going! The Sunrise Rotary's One Day Wonder alternative ride is on Saturday October 3rd and has a variety of loops. All donations go towards groups which benefit youth and health.
This year the ride recipients are Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Support Services, the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary High School Scholarship program (providing 2 and 4-year college scholarship) and the Charities and Grants program (providing grants to local youth athletic and arts organizations).
For those of you who don’t know about Jacob's Heart – I urge you to visit their website http://www.JacobsHeart.org. But the summary is that Jacob's Heart exists to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and to support their families in the challenges they face. They provide family-centered care that addresses the emotional, practical and financial struggles for families of children and teens during treatment, families experiencing anticipatory grief and those who are bereaved.
I've committed to fundraise a minimum of $650 with a personal goal of $1000! So please consider sponsoring me for this ride. With an all-volunteer crew 100% of the proceeds go to the charities, and it’s all tax deductible as Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit.
