Greetings and thank you for visiting my donation page. I have a passion for riding because it's healthy, spiritual, and it has taken me to some amazing places. It's also the foundation of the relationship with my life-partner, Elaine, who is a returning rider from the 2019 Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Charity Bike Ride. This year, we ride side-by-side to share this amazing experience and raise money for some very worthy causes! We're riding 200 miles in three days from Healdsburg to Bodega Bay, Bodega Bay to Pacific, and Pacific to Santa Cruz. It's a an awesome challenge with some of the greatest cycling routes around, and I can't wait!!
The Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary has a long history of supporting youth organizations with this ride, and I’m joining in to do my part. This year the ride recipients are Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Support Services, the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary High School Scholarship program (providing 2 and 4-year college scholarship) and the Charities and Grants program (providing grants to local youth athletic and arts organizations).
For those of you who don’t know about Jacob's Heart, I urge you to visit their website http://www.JacobsHeart.org. For 10 years I was an insurance agent insuring nonprofits in California, and Jacob's Heart was a client of mine for 3 of those years. I've seen their mission firsthand and even had the pleasure to volunteer for one of their fundraisers as my former insurance agency's "Adopt-a-Nonprofit."
The mission of Jacob's Heart is to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and to support their families in the challenges they face. They provide family-centered care that addresses the emotional, practical and financial struggles for families of children and teens during treatment, families experiencing anticipatory grief and those who are bereaved.
I've committed to fundraise a minimum of $650 with a personal goal of $1,500! Please consider sponsoring me for this ride so that I can use my passion for cycling to make a difference to some very worthy causes! With an all-volunteer crew, 100% of the proceeds go to the charities, and it’s all tax deductible as Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit.
