Because of the good work of many over the last two decades, elementary school students had made great progress in reading and math, that is, until the pandemic. The learning loss these students have experienced in the past couple of years is the equivalent of losing two decades of progress according to an authoritative National Assessment of Educational Progress.
The Literacy Coalition is committed to helping those struggling to learn to read. Requests for our programs and tutoring assistance have increased over 60 % from our partners at the school district, city libraries, community centers as well as from parents and families. We need your help to hire and train staff and volunteers to respond to the need in our communities.
Your contributions will be well stewarded as the Literacy Coalition has been awarded the top fiscal accountability rating by Charity Navigator for 13 consecutive years.
