Course & Support
Flat and fast. Under dry conditions, most runners will choose road shoes on these wide, smooth pathways with minimal debris and good footing. Some sections can become muddy when wet and we will avoid any trail sections that become too messy under wet conditions. 2025 courses to be finalized (the course is always subject to minor changes).
Brazos Bend 100 will have a total of three fully stocked aid stations on the course in addition to a number of unmanned water stations.
ALL runners must carry a form of hydration (bottle, flask, bladder, etc.). There will be NO cups at the aid stations.
- 40 Acre Lake Unmanned Water
- Nature Center Aid Station (no drop bags)
- Sawmill Aid Station
- Elm Lake Start/Finish Main Aid Station (personal area access)
Several drinkable water spouts exist along the trail to the Sawmill Aid Station, and are options for runners to refill.
Runners, family, friends, and crew are encouraged to set up their own hang-out support area around the large grass area at the start/finish for extended rest periods, personal gear, and preferences for food and hydration. It is common for clubs, teams, and families to have a tent set up to enjoy the day. There is no camping at Elm Lake Pavilion. Runners can have access to their personal gear between loops.
Timing and Runner Tracking:
Each runner must wear their bib number on the front of their shirt or shorts on the outermost layer. Bibs worn on/in packs, on the back, under layers, facing inwards (number down) will not be read by the timing system - wear your bib on the front of your shirt with the number clearly visible.
Timing points will be at the start/finish line in addition to intermediary split points on the course. Each time a runner crosses one of these timing points, their split/finish will update on the results page. There may be delays in data processing. Please do not disturb the timing staff to inquire about results unless there appears to be a clear issue with a runner's tracking.
If a runner decides not to finish their race, it is critical that they check out at the timing tent to let us know they are not still on course.
Aid Station and Course Points Separation Distances:
Note: The final aid station placement is being updated; the final chart will be published in November.
Food trucks and vendors at the start/finish.
Drop Bags for Sawmill can be dropped at the Elm Lake pavilion during packet pickup and will return around 3 PM on Sunday. Personal items for between laps at the Elm start/finish should be left at your own personal area in front of Elm Lake Pavilion for access between loops.
Aid Station Items (subject to change/while quantities last for non-critical items):
Fluids: Water, Ice, Gatorade, and Skratch (new!) - bring your own cup!
Soda: Coke, Ginger Ale, Orange.
Electrolytes: Pickle Juice, Salt, and other high-sodium drinks and snacks
Sweet: Cookies, Candy, Peanut Butter, Nutella, etc.
Salty: Pringles, Trail Mix, Chips, etc.
Food: Sandwiches (PB&J, Nutella, PB, etc), Bean burrito rolls, fruit (bananas and oranges) additional snacks.
Cooking (evening only): Grilled Cheese, Quesadillas, Soup, Noodles, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Ramen, Potatoes, Pancakes, and other "fun ultra concoctions".
Other: Cooling bucket, Gatoritas (hot weather), and other surprises!
We will have everything you need at our aid stations and usually throw in something extra at each event to make it fun. It's not uncommon to see cakes, pies, watermelons, etc. You never know what the surprise will be!
Medical: Supplies are primarily for emergency and minor injuries. If you normally need body/feet taping, than you should plan on bringing it with you. Bandages, Vaseline, Band Aids and tape (limited), (no NSAIDS, e.g., ibuprofen), Feminine Care Products, Wildsense: Chaffing Balm and Bug Spray.
Aid stations are for registered runners and pacers only, during the event (not before). Serving is by our volunteers and staff only. Crew members are not to use aid station supplies or grab ice. Runners and crew are encouraged to have their own supply, especially for particular items, such as preferred gel or certain diet requirements. We do not supply ice for coolers. You must bring your own cup/hydration device.
Drop Bags
Ultra runners may use Drop Bags at the Sawmill Aid Station. Drop Bags can be dropped off at Elm Lake (next to the BBQ grill) during packet pickup, and will return with the aid station packup on Sunday afgernoon. Keep the bags small; your main gear, including shoe changes, can be left at Elm Lake to be accessed between loops. Because of the looped course and the abundance of aid station support, and personal area at Elm Lake Pavilion, drop bags are not needed.
