The Ostomy Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in New Milford, Connecticut, committed to empowering ostomates and those who support them. We provide critical education, mentoring, and emotional support to individuals of all ages living with an ostomy — whether they’re preparing for surgery, recovering, or navigating long-term care.
But we can’t do it alone.
Every day, we work directly with ostomates, caregivers, families, and medical professionals to break down stigma and provide resources that foster confidence, dignity, and healing. Through outreach, community programs, social media, and advocacy, we are changing the narrative — one story at a time.
An ostomy can be the result of cancer, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, IBD, birth defects, or other serious medical conditions. While the surgery is life-saving, the emotional and physical journey that follows can be overwhelming without proper support.
