I ride in honor of my brother, Jim Gary, who is 8-years strong into the life-changing diagnosis of stage IV early-onset colorectal cancer. (Jimmy, you are the strongest person I know!) 

What resonates with me is a single sentence from the American Association of Cancer Research: Cancer research is important because the better we understand these diseases, the more progress we will make toward diminishing the tremendous human and economic tolls of cancer.  

I ride in this event in honor of my brother -- and as an employee of Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center, where I witness daily the drive and dedication of my colleagues to improve the lives of those impacted by cancer. This is not an exaggeration! Faculty members of the Abramson Cancer Center are leaders in their field of expertise in knowledge as well as practice, and I am honored to contribute to their mission through this act.
