I’ll be participating in my sixth Breakthrough Challenge this year, my fourth as a member of the board of directors.

I’ll be riding as part of Team Zayde, named in honor of my father, who we lost to cancer in 2011; I’ll be thinking about when we roll out at the beginning of the ride and when we cross the finish line several hours later. These thoughts are always bittersweet, but I know that they’ll be tempered by riding alongside, or more likely trying to keep up with, Bo Ebby -   my college roommate, the chair of the Breakthrough’s board, and living proof of the incredible work being done at UPenn’s Abramson Center.

The truth about cancer is that we have never been closer to a cure than we are right now, but this success is not guaranteed, and with federal funding for cancer care and research under threat, your contributions have never been more essential.  

And so, in honor of everyone in your life who has fought or is fighting cancer, we urge you to join the Breakthrough Challenge in their ongoing leadership in the fight against cancer.
